R4 3DS Bring Good Old Dos Games To Nintendo 3DS

Anyone that has been in the PC world for some time, more than likely remembers some of those amazing old DOS games they used to play.  You know, when you had to run a .bat file in order to load up a game.  Well, with the R4 3DS you can relive some of that old school fun and action with the help of a homebrew application called DSx86.  DSx86 is an emulator that will enable your Nintendo 3DS, DSi, DS lite, etc.. to run old DOS games, with the help of the r4 of course.
Much like there were thousands of old classic games for the NES, Super NES, Neo Geo, etc…  Old Intel Computers, running DOS or Windows 3.1 had thousands of games available to play.  Many of them have set the stage for sequals and remakes that are just now being released on console systems and new computers.  The DOS emulator for the DS allows you to play all of these old games.  There are few games that won’t play at full speed, or run just as they would have on the older PC systems they were made for.
Now, the thing to remember with DSx86, is that this is still a beta release. It is still something that is very much a work in progress, and while almost every game we have tried works perfectly, there are bound to be some bugs that have yet to be worked out.  Some kinks, so to speak, have to be fixed, but all in all, the emulator works great, and lets you run hundreds – if not thousands – of old DOS games.  Similar emulators are out for the MAC and PC, in the form of something called DOSbox, but this is the very first application that actually puts these old dos games in your pocket – on a hand held system.  We’ll be adding it soon to our 3DS Homebrew section, so keep your eyes open for a download.
Duke Nukem 3D – An old DOS game that clearly stands the test of time – and a huge franchise and new updated versions released.

And who can forget the amazing Alone In The Dark Series.  All installments of this game work perfectly on the Nintendo 3DS with your R4 3DS Card.  1, 2 and even 3 at full speed in all of their classic glory.
It’s one of the best – and easiest ways, to play your old dos games on your Nintendo DS, DS Lite, Nintendo DSi and Nintendo 3DS consoles.  You need nothing more than the R4 3DS, a micro SD card, and of course the console of your choice, and you will be up and running – and playing your old DOS games in no time flat.
The menu system on the 3DS for the DSx86 is easy to use and configure, and even has an on screen keyboard, in order to allow you to enter in commands
