I upgraded my R4i to the latest firmware, but it’s still giving me an error.?

I upgraded my DSi to 1.4.4U by accident a couple of days ago, and today the update for the R4i came out (V1.59b) on the official site.
The R4i I have is V.1.4.1 and even though I upgraded the firmware correctly (It works fine on my friends DS Lite), I’m still getting the error message: An error has occurred. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system off. Please see the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for help troubleshooting.
I don’t understand why I’m getting this message when I already updated it. What should I do?

I have a R4 SDHC and the last kernal made for it at www.r4sdhc.com is v1.34 which was released in march 2010, so im stuck playing games from 2009. I have tried using a few patches like wood and ysmenu but all it does is creates more issues like game save errors or none of my roms able to start.
Is there some website out there still making kernal updates for the R4 SDHC or a patch so i can use a kernal from a R4i etc.

1). Download latest r4i 3ds V1.59b firmware from mentioned page, and install it to the MicroSD card.
2). Find a DS or DSi console, put the R4i SDHC 3DS card with MicroSD into the Ds or DSi console.
3). Power on the console to enter the R4i main menu, as below picture:

4). Choose the third button and click, you can enter next steps as below:

5. Press the “upgrade” button, you will enter the next steps as below:

6. Click “start” button to start the upgrade process.
7. Wait about 2 minutes, the upgrade process finish.
